Creative Australia
MESSAGE FROM ARTS MINISTER TONY BURKE
Creative Australia is an inspiring cultural policy and I am proud to implement it as Australia’s Arts Minister.
The arts have always been a significant part of my life. I personally place enormous value on the way all art forms have the capacity to appeal to our emotions, fire up our imagination and touch the soul.
Since taking on the arts portfolio I have met with many key people in the arts sector who are equally enthusiastic about this policy and I look forward to working with them to deliver Creative Australia. Already, the National Arts and Culture Accord has been signed by each level of government. The Accord describes how governments will support and cooperate on arts and culture.
In Creative Australia we have a far-reaching policy that will see culture and creativity play a central role in our social and economic life which makes sure that all Australians, no matter where they live, can share in the richness of our cultural life.
There is plenty more work to be done and I don’t intend to waste a minute.
Creative Australia, the Australian Government’s 2013 national cultural policy, celebrates Australia’s strong, diverse and inclusive culture. It describes the essential role arts and culture play in the life of every Australian and how creativity is central to Australia’s economic and social success: a creative nation is a productive nation.
